My name is Josh. I am a business designer who wants to see the future faster. I marry a human-centered approach to innovation with a knack for carving out channels of rich data flow that enable continuous improvement of relationships to customers.
I am currently the Head of Strategy & Business Development at Aurous, where we are innovating on the premise of purchase order finance. This builds on some ten years of experience as a customer-obsessed business designer, most recently supporting the development of Capital One's bank-of-the-future offerings as a member of the Service Design Practice. I joined this team after completing my tenure as a James R. Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellow studying Integrated Innovation at Carnegie Mellon University. Before grad school, I launched two media ventures in PM and bizdev leadership functions. Prior to that, I honed my craft as a service designer by making policy research products for state and federal clients, and by serving a term on the Connecticut State Board of Education.
I find fulfillment in helping people grow. I have a thirst for uncovering the things that make people tick and learning how they feel underserved. Framed at the intersection of human desirability, business viability, and technical feasibility, my work focuses largely on new venture design, prototyping value, and growth and innovation strategy.
I volunteer as an advisor to OpenIDEO's Education in Emergencies cohort.
