My name is Josh. I am a business designer who wants to see the future faster. I marry a human-centered approach to innovation with an interest in nontraditional measurement and development of customer relationships. My work focuses largely on user research, fuzzy-front-end business modeling, and go-to-market strategy.

I’m currently building the Business Transformation Services capability at Confluent. I’ve spent the past decade primarily in or adjacent to financial services- in econometrics, payment-space-marketing, retail banking and commercial finance- building and launching new offerings at startups and legacy companies like Capital One and Salesforce. I’ve also consulted as a business designer with clients as varied as Palo Alto Networks, Thumbtack and Samsung Ads. I hold a Bachelors from Vanderbilt University and a Masters in Integrated Innovation from Carnegie Mellon University, where I was a James R. Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellow.

I find fulfillment in helping people grow, and have a thirst for uncovering the things that make people tick and learning how they feel underserved. I volunteer as an advisor to OpenIDEO's Education in Emergencies cohort and as a mentor in the UCSD IDEA Lab.

Talk to me about standup comedy, vintage cars, screenwriting, cycling, or- you guessed it- design.
